A unique 10 year old Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky.
The Airborne Collection is dedicated to the men of the Parachute Regiment formed when in June 1940 Winston Churchill called for the formation of "...a corps of at least 5000 parachute troops..." Since that time Airborne Forces have served with distinction in almost every conflict in which British troops have been deployed.
This fine Scotch whisky collection is named in their honour.

This 10 Year old Speyside Single Malt commemorates the airborne assault by 3rd Battalion on the El Gamil airfield during the Suez Canal crisis in Egypt in late 1956.
At 0415 on the 5 November 1956, the 660 men of the 3 Para, Parachute Regiment under the command of the late Lt Col Paul Crook, flew from their base in Cyprus and carried out the last battalion combat drop by British airborne forces. The assault took place at the "hot" DZ at El Gamil airfield which was already occupied by about 2000 Egyptian troops supported by armour.
The DZ was very short and narrow and the need for surprise was crucial. The men jumped from only 700 ft to avoid being swept away by cross-winds and to allow them to re-organise quickly on the DZ. Consequently, they jumped without reserve parachutes which were considered to be "not necessary" for such a low level jump. The decision was not popular with the battalion. 3 Para was finally withdrawn by the British government following political negotiations.

Royal Lochnagar Para 90
This addition to The Airborne Collection is a fine limited edition, a 10 year old single malt celebrating the Golden Jubilee of British Airborne Forces.
A very special cask of Royal Lochnagar malt was laid down in 1990 to mark the occasion of their 50th anniverary. The Prince of Wales who is Colonel-in-Chief of the Parachute Regiment visited Royal Lochnagar at the half-way stage and sampled the contents of the cask.
In May 2000, the cask reached its full 10 year maturity and produced a total of 290 bottles which were filled at natural strength, unfiltered and untreated in any way. Each bottle is individually numbered and has a cask strength of 62.5% by volume.

British Airborne Forces excelled in many theatres of World War II, in particular in North Africa, Normandy, Arnhem and also during the Rhine Crossing. They continue to serve their country with distinction.

Lochnagar Distillery is one the smallest and most exclusive malt whisky distilleries in Scotland. It is the only distillery in Royal Deeside and is situated near Crathie, close to Balmoral Castle.

The South Atlantic Medal was awarded to those who took part in Operation Corporate. The South Atlantic Medal Association ( SAMA 82 ) was established in 1982 by veterans with the aim of promoting comradeship and providing support for those British personnel who served.
Albannach Whiskies Ltd have been pleased to support SAMA 82 and is privileged to have co-operated with them to produce this fine 10 year old Speyside single malt whisky to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Falklands campaign.
The badges on the front label of the bottle depict the three armed services as well as the Merchant Navy which played such a vital role in getting the task force into theatre. The colours of the border reflect the colours of the medal ribbon. The back label gives a short history of the campaign and also displays the medal itself.
